My name is Carolyn Soma Shoemaker. Artist, Designer and Visual Arts Instructor. I live in Oakland Twp. Michigan.

 

My love for art started at a very early age. I was encouraged by my high school art teacher to pursue a career in art. I studied at the College of Creative Studies in Detroit, MI where I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Communication.

 

After college I was employed as a professional graphic designer at two major hospitals in the Detroit area. I am currently now a Visual Arts Instructor at Paint Creek Center for the Arts in Rochester, MI. This is where I discovered a new love, that is teaching. Seeing the progress of my students and their enthusiasm is so rewarding to me.

If I'm not painting, you can probably find me in my garden which is another one of my passions, and is why painting landscapes and florals are probably my favorite subjects to paint.

 

This art journey so far has been so fulfilling and with the consistent support from my family, friends, students and colleagues, I have been able to continue to do what I love and share with all of you!
